JOB SUMMARY

The Paideia School, a Pre K-12 private independent co-educational school located in Atlanta, GA, seeks a full-time, co-lead teacher for a Junior High homebase classroom. The Junior High enrolls 190 students. The program includes six self-contained homebase classrooms as well as specialist teachers. There are two teachers in each of the six classrooms with a mix of approximately 32 students from the 7th and 8th grades. Homebase teachers work together as co-lead teachers and are expected to teach their own classes but create an integrated environment for learners.  Each team comes together to bring their own passions and interests into their class while also following rigorous academic standards. The Junior High homebase curriculum includes creative writing, literature, grammar, and social studies. Students remain in their homebase placement for two years, through 7th and 8th grades, so that each teaching team is able to maximize knowing students and helping them progress.  Each homebase classroom engages in reading programs and community service projects and integrates experiential learning at this age. Those aspects of the classroom are the primary focus of the collaborative nature of these teaching teams.

Paideia’s philosophy is based on the belief that to educate well, schools must be conscious of individual strengths and weaknesses. The Junior High faculty emphasizes the acquisition of basic academic skills and content along with the development of social skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Homebase teachers work collaboratively with each other to integrate the curriculum requirements for the age. Both teachers participate in parent conferences, curriculum development, student assessment, professional development, faculty meetings and instruction. A Junior High teacher should be proficient in teaching the language arts and/or social studies classes and adept at creating a positive, nurturing environment for students.

This position includes co-teaching a mixed 7th and 8th grade class both English and Social Studies, ages 12 to 14. Other requirements include; weekly faculty meetings, carpool and lunch duty, chaperoning social events, field trips and participating as a full member of the school community. Faculty members create courses for a 2 week long short term at the end of the school year. Some faculty members choose to sponsor an activity or coach one of the many school sports teams.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

We are looking for a dynamic educator to join our student-centered learning community. The position requires flexibility and confidence to design and teach humanities courses in our inclusive community. Issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion are explored in every aspect of this school community and faculty members must be willing to lead in this area, including leading student racial affinity group discussions once a month.  Junior High teachers should be skilled at working in collaboration with other teachers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ideally, applicants would have a humanities degree (English or History). At least 3-5 years of teaching experience is required. A concentration in non-western disciplines is appreciated. While Masters level is preferred, it is not required.

The Design & Production program at Galloway is an essential aspect of our vibrant Fine Arts program. In collaboration with the Theatre program, the Design & Production curriculum centers around technical theatre skills, designing for the stage, and the process of theatre production.

In the absence of the regular teacher, the long term substitute teacher is responsible for teaching a full load of Upper Learning Technical Theatre classes, which include the following courses, and units.

• Basic Broadway flat construction (frame construction, covering, sizing)

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will teach Early Learning General Music for Pre-K3 through 4th Grade. The Early Learning music curriculum at The Galloway School is an essential part of our vibrant Fine Arts program.

From Pre-K3 through 4th grade, the Early Learning General Music Teacher will be responsible for engaging students of varying ages and developmental stages in an interactive and inspiring music curriculum. Through singing, movement, instrument exploration, and creative expression, the teacher will foster a love for music while developing foundational skills in rhythm, melody, and musical collaboration.

This role will also help prepare students for public presentations, performances, and assemblies throughout the year, including planning programs, rehearsal calendars, and collaborating with EL team. Primary Objective:

The Whitefield Fellows Program gives guidance, training, and experience to college graduates considering teaching as a career. Graduate Fellows are not considered interns or student teachers; rather, they are treated as colleagues within their departments as they teach in real-life lower, middle, or upper school classroom settings under the mentorship of colleagues. Within the scope of the program, the Faculty Fellow team-teaches with a mentor teacher. Over the course of the year, in a scaffolded approach, the Graduate Fellow will assume the main teaching responsibilities under the mentor teacher’s guidance.  

 Key Responsibilities:

●    Engage in the eleven-month Master of Arts in Teaching at Covenant College with clinical teaching experience happening at Whitefield Academy

●    Assume classroom teaching responsibilities under the guidance of the mentor teacher, as the academic year progresses. Ideally, most fellows are teaching at least one class by the end of the first grading period.

●    Work one-on-one with students who need extra help, using different instructional methods

Primary Objective:

The Whitefield Fellows Program gives guidance, training, and experience to college graduates considering teaching as a career. Faculty Fellows are not considered interns or student teachers; rather, they are treated as colleagues within their departments as they teach in real-life lower, middle, or upper school classroom settings under the mentorship of colleagues. Within the scope of the program, the Faculty Fellow team-teaches with a mentor teacher. Over the course of the year, in a scaffolded approach, the Faculty Fellow will assume the main teaching responsibilities under the mentor teacher’s guidance.  

Key Responsibilities:

●    Assume classroom teaching responsibilities under the guidance of a mentor teacher, as the academic year progresses. Ideally, most fellows are teaching at least one class by the end of the first grading period.

●    Work one-on-one with students who need extra help, using different instructional methods

●    Commit to and participate actively in professional development opportunities

●    Participate in year-long onboarding

●    Attend regularly scheduled meetings for learning and support

●    Each season, participate as an assistant coach for athletics or help supervise/sponsor a co-curricular and/or extracurricular activity

●    Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis

●    Observe and collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment

●    Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required 

●    Demonstrate stewardship of Whitefield resources and spaces

Position Summary: Frederica Academy seeks an Upper School Spanish Instructor to begin in July 2026. Interested applicants should be able to teach Spanish III, Honors Spanish III, Honors Spanish IV, and AP Spanish Language and Culture. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Upper School Spanish Instructor is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
